Cairns Friendly Computer Lessons
Free One-on-One Computer Lessons for Seniors in Cairns
Cairns Friendly Computer Lessons provides free, personalised computer lessons for seniors aged 60+ across Cairns and surrounding suburbs.
Lessons are designed around what you actually want to be able to do on your computer. There is no set curriculum to keep up with and no expectation that you already know the basics. Complete beginners are very welcome.
You might want help becoming more confident with email, internet browsing, files and folders, everyday computer programs, online safety, or simply understanding your computer better. We start with your goals and current skills, then build from there at a pace that suits you.
Lessons can be held in your home using your own desktop or laptop computer. If you use a laptop, we can also meet at a suitable public location. If having someone familiar nearby would help you feel more comfortable, a friend or family member is welcome to attend your first few sessions.
I’m Casey, a former computer technician with several years of experience repairing, supporting and teaching people to use computers. I found that the part of the work I enjoyed most was helping people understand technology and become confident doing things for themselves.
My teaching approach is calm, practical and one-on-one. We work side by side, talk through what we are doing, and make plenty of room for questions, practice and mistakes. Larger tasks are broken into clear steps, including the small actions that are often skipped over, so nothing is assumed.
The aim is not simply to complete a computer task for you. It is to help you understand how to do it yourself and gradually build confidence and independence.
Lessons are arranged individually rather than run as fixed classes and are generally held fortnightly.
Lessons are free. A contribution toward travel costs is appreciated for travel outside my local area.
If you would like to build your computer confidence, or you are enquiring for a family member or friend, you are very welcome to get in touch through the contact form on my website or by sending a message through the Cairns Friendly Computer Lessons Facebook page.
